VEHICLE INCIDENT – DHI QAR, IRAQ

Three Australian soldiers have been injured during a vehicle patrol near Tallil, in southern Iraq.

The soldiers from the Overwatch Battle Group – West (OBG(W)) were injured when their Bushmaster vehicle rolled while travelling over steep terrain yesterday (Friday). The accident occurred during a sandstorm where there was limited visibility.

One soldier received a broken arm while two others received bruising and abrasions. Two of the injured ADF members are expected to be transferred to Baghdad for further assessment. The remaining soldier was released from a US hospital at Tallil yesterday afternoon.

None of the injuries are considered to be life threatening

All family members have been contacted by Defence.

The vehicle was damaged but was able to return to Camp Terendak.
